TRAIL DESCRIPTION: follow the paths to next to the dam and pick your way downstream to where the falls cascade around the old bridge abuttments.

The dam and hydro station here were built in the 1930s to provide power to Middleton and surrounding areas. A hiking trail on the right hand side of the river (facing upstream, across the river from the parking area) will also lead you down to the Alpena Rapids further upstream.
